Para esta pesquisa, foram selecionados os alunos do sexto ano do Ensino Fundamental. Primeiro, foi realizado um pequeno levantamento do que os alunos já sabiam sobre a poesia. Logo após a construção da tabela com resultados e aplicação de textos em sala de aula, procedemos à análise e tabulação dos resultados. Com os resultados obtidos que foi a participação e entusiasmo dos esperamos que a prática de leitura com poesia possa ser ressignificada pelo professor, tendo como prioridade não só o caráter didático, mas a formação de leitores eficientes e críticos. Para a fundamentação teórica deste trabalho utilizamos principalmente as ideias de Pinheiro (2018) e Sorrenti (2013) que tratam sobre a leitura de poesia em sala de aula. A partir do trabalho realizado nesta pesquisa, concluímos que deverá existir todo um cuidado e preparo antes de propor a leitura de poesia para os alunos, considerando as peculiaridades que rodeiam o educando. Descrição: This work is the result of research that seeks to understand that reading poetry in the classroom can contribute to the process of reading development in students, aiming to encourage this practice through poetry in the classroom in a pleasurable way, with the aim of to acquire reading fluency in a fun way, as we understand that reading poetry is undoubtedly a comfort to the soul. For this research, students in the sixth year of Elementary School were selected. First, a small survey was carried out of what the students already knew about poetry. Therefore, after creating a table with results and applying texts in the classroom, we proceeded to analyze and tabulate the results. After the results obtained, we hope that the practice of reading with poetry can be given a new meaning by the teacher, with a priority not only on the didactic nature, but also on the formation of efficient and critical readers. For the theoretical foundation of this work, we mainly used the ideas of Pinheiro (2018) and Sorrenti (2013), which deal with reading poetry in the classroom. Based on the work carried out in this research, we conclude that there must be great care and preparation before proposing the reading of poetry to students, considering the peculiarities that surround the student.
