Meu cabelo, minha identidade: os cabelos crespos/cacheados das mulheres afrodescendentes em perspectiva

Abstract

Resumo: O presente estudo promove reflexões acerca dos cabelos crespos e cacheados como característica identitária de mulheres negras afrodescendentes. No percurso desvela-se algumas indagações como: “Como é construída a idendidade de mulheres afrodescendentes a partir de seus cabelos crespos/cacheados?”Para refletir sobre tais questionamentos, estabelecemos como objetivo principal analisar a construção da identidade de mulheres afrodescendentes a partir de seus cabelos crespos/cacheados. Utilizamos como metodologia o levantamento e análise bibliográfica de artigos, livros e sites. Fizemos destaque em algumas produções artísticas como a música e cinema, onde revelam-se questões sobre o tema do cabelo afro. Os recursos que utilizamos passam por diferentes estudos de renomados autores/as como: Nascimento (2004, 2016), Quintão (2013), Moutinho (2013), Coutinho (2011), Carvalho (2015) e Gomes (2008); assim como navegamos por sites, a exemplo do Geledés, que trabalham com questões étnicos raciais e de gênero. Analisando e refletindo a partir desse material foi possível compreender que o cabelo das mulheres afrodescendentes, promove encontros identitários com elas mesmas, portanto, o cabelo aqui retratado tem como função afirmar e incentivar o empoderamento das mulheres afrodescendentes. Abstract: This study promotes reflections on curly and kinky hair as an identity characteristic of Afro-descendant Black women. Along the way, it raises questions such as: "How is the identity of Afro-descendant women constructed from their curly/kinky hair?" To reflect on these questions, we established as our main objective to analyze the construction of the identity of Afro-descendant women based on their curly/kinky hair. Our methodology involved a bibliographic survey and analysis of articles, books, and websites. We highlighted artistic productions such as music and film, which reveal issues related to the theme of Afro hair. The resources we used include different studies by renowned authors such as: Nascimento (2004, 2016), Quintão (2013), Moutinho (2013), Coutinho (2011), Carvalho (2015), and Gomes (2008). Just as we browse websites, such as Geledés, that deal with ethnic, racial, and gender issues, analyzing and reflecting on this material made it possible to understand that the hair of Afro-descendant women promotes identity encounters with themselves. Therefore, the hair portrayed here has the function of affirming and encouraging the empowerment of Afro-descendant women.
