This research aims to identify the ethical challenges perceived and/or faced by Public Relations students at UFMA when using generative artificial intelligence tools in their research practice, understanding how such challenges impact their academic daily lives in order to subsequently produce recommendations that help them with these challenges. Through exploratory qualitative research, four layers of actions were constructed: the first consisted of bibliographic research and a literature review on the use of GAI in research practice, theoretically illustrating the principles of such use; the second layer consisted of empirical research using the focus group technique for data collection, with the participation of nine students divided into two groups; the third layer was the interpretation of the perceptions recorded, through the adaptation of the content analysis technique of the groups' records; and the fourth layer was the construction of recommendations for the ethical and responsible use of IAG in the research practice of these students. At the end of the empirical research, it was noticed that UFMA Public Relations students have a delayed concern with digital intelligence literacy; that they need to understand that researchers must take full responsibility for the use of AI tools to improve their research; that they need to be guided by clear rules so that there is transparency in their use of AI tools; that they need to mitigate risks when using AI tools based on awareness of these risks; that combating plagiarism is an indispensable moral behavior in the academic world; that skills in analyzing, synthesizing, and discussing research results are human autonomy and therefore non-transferable to AI; and that the ethical and responsible use of AI in research also depends on institutional guidelines. Based on these perceptions, seven sets of practical recommendations were designed for the ethical and responsible use of GAI in Public Relations research for the UFMA course.pt_BR
