| Description: | ABSTRACT Non - alcoholic fatty liver disease is a multifactorial pathology with pathophysiology not yet fully elucidated. It is associated with metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, obesity, systemic arterial hypertension and hyperlipidemia. The evolution of this condition may be for non - alcoholic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and as a risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma. Diagnosis is usually incidental through abdominal ultrasonography. Currently, several studies are developed in order to seek therapeutic possibilities that may act as adjuvant changes in lifestyle (healthy eating and physical activity practice). However, there is still no protocol with guidelines that would guide the treatment of this pathology that is increasingly prevalent in the world. |
