Título: O ENSINO DA MÚSICA POPULAR AO PIANO EM SÃO LUÍS/MA: um desafio para os docentes

Resumo: Este trabalho objetivou identificar os desafios/dificuldades do ensino da música popular no piano em São Luís, do Estado do Maranhão, a partir da percepção de docentes. Para tanto, inicialmente, foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográficas sobre as categorias de ensino que pudessem ocorrer na aprendizagem musical, sobre os termos popular e erudito no piano e sobre a inserção do ensino do piano popular no Brasil, especialmente no cenário da sociedade carioca. Em seguida, foram contextualizados o piano popular e as instituições formais de ensino no Brasil, bem como o ensino da música popular no piano em São Luís. A partir disso, foram analisados os dados obtidos através de um levantamento em campo de instituições de ensino de música que oferecessem o ensino da música popular no piano nesta cidade, seguido da análise de entrevistas com professores de piano popular. Por fim, foram constatados que existem deficiências no ensino deste instrumento na referida cidade e a necessidade de a comunidade refletir sobre a importância do ensino da música popular no piano, bem como sobre futuros posicionamentos que possam cooperar na iniciativa para a inserção do piano popular nas instituições formais públicas de ensino de música na cidade de São Luís.
Descrição: This study aimed to identify the challenges/difficulties of popular music teachings on piano in São Luís, State of Maranhão, from the perception of teachers. Therefore, initially, they were carried out bibliographic research on the categories of teaching that could occur in the music learning about the popular and scholarly terms on the piano and the insertion of the popular piano teaching in Brazil, especially in the setting of Rio society. Then they were contextualized the popular piano and formal educational institutions in Brazil, as well as the teaching of popular music on the piano in São Luís. From there, the data obtained through mapping of music educational institutions were analyzed that offered the teaching of popular music on the piano in this city, followed by the analysis of interviews with popular piano teachers. Finally, they noted that there are shortcomings in teaching this instrument in that city and the need for the community to reflect on the importance of popular music education in piano, as well as on future placements that can cooperate in the initiative for the inclusion of popular piano in public formal institutions of music education in the city of São Luís.
