Além disso, há muitos preconceitos arraigados, o que dificulta o conhecimento da cultura e, consequentemente, a construção de sua própria identidade.___ABSTRACT: The process of identity construction is developed within relationships and social interaction, in dialogue, in culture, throughout our lives, for this reason, black identity is also established based on these issues. Given this, the present work aims to analyze how black people perceive themselves and what are the difficulties and conflicts of resistance and existence of this population in the municipality of Grajaú - MA today, specifically in the Expoagra neighborhood. Furthermore, I also seek to find out how a black person shows themselves within society, when it comes to identity, as well as how they see themselves and impose themselves; Understand the process of resistance, as a black person, within the historical, social and cultural context; as well as understanding the current perspective of certain concepts and prejudices towards black people in the Expoagra neighborhood. The research took place with eight members living in the Expoagra neighborhood, in the city of Grajaú - Maranhão, aged between 23 and 68 years old, in the form of a questionnaire, as well as in formal and informal conversations. Based on the data that was collected and analyzed, I could see that there is still a great reception, or even a lack of knowledge, on the part of many about what black culture is, as well as about historical processes. Furthermore, there are many deep-rooted prejudices, which make it difficult to understand the culture and, consequently, to build your own identity.__ABSTRACT The process of identity construction is developed within relationships and social interaction, in dialogue, in culture, throughout our lives, for this reason, black identity is also established based on these issues.
