O jogo de xadrez como componente curricular: uma alternativa

Abstract

RESUMO: O jogo de xadrez vem ganhando espaço no ambiente escolar e já é debatido como uma possível alternativa para as metodologias de aprendizagem, especificamente na área da Matemática. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho objetivou avaliar o desempenho escolar de alunos de uma escola privada no interior do Maranhão, na disciplina de Matemática, que tem aulas de xadrez como um componente curricular, além de difundir o uso pedagógico do jogo nas escolas. Diante disso, buscou-se, através do jogo de xadrez, fazer a abordagem inicial de alguns conteúdos da Matemática, a fim de facilitar o entendimento dos alunos e despertar neles o interesse pela matemática. A metodologia é de natureza quantitativa. Foi entregue questionários aos alunos. Os dados foram coletados e analisados. E observou-se que os resultados esperados foram alcançados.___ABSTRACT: The game of chess has been gaining ground in the school environment and is already being debated as a possible alternative for learning methodologies, specifically in mathematics. In this sense, the present work aimed not only to evaluate the performance of a class from a private school in the interior of Maranhão, in the subject of mathematics, which has chess classes as a subject, but also to disseminate the pedagogical use of the game in schools. In view of this, we sought, through the game of chess, to initially approach some Mathematics content, in order to facilitate students' understanding and awaken their interest in mathematics. The effectiveness of the methods was verified through the application of a questionnaire and, therefore, the expected results were achieved.
