Teorema de pitágoras: história e aplicações

Abstract

Resumo: O Teorema de Pitágoras, atribuído ao matemático grego Pitágoras de Samos, é uma das descobertas fundamentais da geometria. Formulado no século VI a.C., o teorema estabelece uma relação entre os lados de um triângulo retângulo, afirmando que o quadrado da hipotenusa é igual à soma dos quadrados dos catetos. Esta proposição simples, tem vastas aplicações em diversas áreas. O presente trabalho trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica que tem por objetivo abordar sobre a vida de Pitágoras, sobre a Escola Pitagórica, por ele fundada, e sobre as suas contribuições para o desenvolvimento da matemática. Fizemos um resumo sobre a vida e trajetória de Pitágoras de Samos, enfatizando a contribuição significativa de Pitágoras e seus discípulos para o desenvolvimento deste teorema. Assim, o teorema de Pitágoras transcende sua origem histórica, permanecendo como um pilar fundamental no entendimento e solução de problemas matemáticos.___Abstract: The Pythagorean Theorem, attributed to the Greek mathematician Pythagoras Samos, is one of the fundamental discoveries in geometry. Formulated in the 6th century BC, the theorem establishes a relationship between the sides of a right-angled triangle, stating that the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the legs. This simple proposition, has wide applications in several areas. The present work is a bibliographical research that aims to address the life of Pythagoras, the Pythagorean School, founded by him, and his contributions to the development of mathematics. In this work, we made an overview of the life and trajectory of Pythagoras of Samos , emphasizing the significant contribution of Pythagoras and his disciples to the development of this theorem. Thus, Pythagoras’ theorem transcends its historical origin, remaining a fundamental pillar in the understanding and solution of mathematical and applied problems.
